Whiskey for Breakfast

Rising sun crawls the trunk of trees
to the tops and through the leaves
strange sisters dance the night
push and pull - struggle and fight

Crashing moon into the tide and sea
beach and sand and hot jasmine tea
sullen sounds of thoughtless life
hold on gently - yet hold on tight

Flattened Seventh

Sunday started as any other seventh day
though not at all the same
the more I looked the less I felt
that Saturday had waned

Somehow we slipped into the gap
of the time and day facade
stuck forever in a flattened note
of a day that should be Sun

Monday never to find its way
to our consciousness again
stashed away and swept aside
the root an interval away

Tempered Towards

thoughts of space
between the words
infinite aleph…
hurtling towards

legs and wax
and sudden tax
like sharp the pain
of acid rain

thoughts compressed
strained and dressed
stored and cured and…
tempered towards

And Time was in Between

Spent and sorry
lord and lories
lost in someone’s dream

Cross and thorns

and tricks and horns
spent on peach and cream

No one thought

as soldiers fought
and time was in between

Homeless tatters

all life matters
now you hear me scream

Skate and ride

and frame and fry
the only living dream

at last the sky

melancholy sigh
sleeping by the stream

Remember

I remember.
I remember waking from an almost-still-asleep to the news of an accident.
I remember the feeling that something was just not quite right with it all.
I remember the sight of the second plane's approach and its vanishing.
I remember the feeling of resignation that it was no accident.
I remember the collapse and then the next.
I remember the silence that lasted for days - like a pillow held around my ears.
I remember watching the skies.
I remember the feeling as I looked at our four year old son and knew that things had already changed in his lifetime.
I remember my disappointment in man.
I remember the sadness.
I remember.

Sought for Sullen Whispers

sought for sullen whispers
on the broken stairs
crept and slept and now I’ve wept
i’m lost in sudden stares

nine the tyne the barley wine
the hunchbacks on the stair
three times the swine of carried time
left hanging in the air

sweet the scent of travels gate
come engulf the shallows hole
the whirl of sunshine’s softer fate
from tempest and from troll

Spoken from Ask Jeeves

Like a late...
    summer breeze
breathing down on me
jazz and ...
    fallen trees
stolen straight from thee

Jenkins...

    down the street
running bloody feet
ground and ...
    jumbled tees
spoken from ask jeeves

Tried and true...

    the thieves
touring on the sleeves
stopped and ...
    questioned me
while falling down the street
